There are various studies on hadīth ed ucation in Ottoman Dār al-hadīths based on classical sources. Archieves, history and geography books, tabaqāts and travel notes (seyahatnâmes) can be mentioned as examples of sources about hadīth education. In this paper, an evaluation of the literature is made with special reference to Dār al-hadīth of Suleymaniye, which was regarded as the pinnacle of dār al-hadīths in particular and Ottoman madrasa system in general. In addition to works which deal the subject directly, some other works which deal the subject indirectly are also in the scope of this essay. At the end a detailed bibliography of the works related to the topic is given.
