Bibliography of Theses on Turkey and the Turkish Community in Austria in the Collection of the Department of Sociology and Political Science Library, University of Vienna

Since the second half of the twentieth century, academic studies on the Islamic world have gained momentum in Europe and globally, leading to a corresponding increase in bibliographic compilations. Founded in 1365, the University of Vienna has contributed to this trend by hosting various academic theses on Turkey and Turkish society, particularly in the fields of Sociology and Political Science. The primary aim of this study is to compile and provide access to 145 master's theses and 46 doctoral dissertations completed between 1978 and 2023 at the Department of Sociology and Political Science of the University of Vienna. These works are housed in the departments' shared library. To facilitate access for Turkish researchers, particularly those without proficiency in German, the study includes translations of thesis titles into Turkish. While every effort was made to ensure accurate and direct translations, minor discrepancies in meaning may have occurred due to contextual and linguistic differences. Nevertheless, such discrepancies have been minimized with a focus on preserving the original intent and meaning of the texts. This bibliography aims to make academic studies on Turkey and Turkish society accessible to a broader audience of researchers, fostering engagement with the scholarly discourse and contributing to the accumulated body of literature in this field.
