The architectural constructs constitute the main source of Ottoman architectural studies. Architectural historians have determined the Ottoman architectural form properties and established their frames based on the existing contracts. In addition, the availability of various types of archives documented by the Ottoman Empire leads one to note that an observation of the existing constructs has to be supplemen¬ted with other types of data. Some architectural information that can be traced in Sharia court records, usually utilized for the history of law and socio-economic history, is proposed to be studied for the benefit of architectural historiography. In addition, it has been suggested that due to the variety of architectural sources in the Ottoman Empire, it is necessary to take narrative literature into account in order to reach a sufficient synthesis.
