These importation conditions and influences are closely related to the Ottoman-Turkish modenization process. At the end of the nineteenth century, positivism was considered by the Ottoman elites as a remedy to save the Empire while it was seen during the construction of the nation state by Republican ideologues as a analysis tool and ideology to shaping society. During these two periods, Auguste Comte’s thought has not been imported as such but reinterpreted to be adapted to local conditions.
