Ziya Gökalp (1876-1924) is known as one of the leading thinkers in Turkish intellectual and political world. He pioneered in both introducing sociology to Turkish society and emergence of Turkism in II. Meflrutiyet. On the other hand, Gökalp, as an intellectual, unlike his contemporaries, with his works still survives even today. Especially, his works 'The Principles of Turkism' ('Türkçüğün Esasları'), 'Turkisation, Islamisation and Modernisation' ('Türkleşmek, İslamlaşmak ve Muasırlaşmak'), is widely published and read. In this article, Gökalp will be elaborated with respect to his works, interactions, political and ideological approaches. His works particularly related to sociology and Turkism are focused on and all the specific subjects around his works are taken into consideration and re-evaluated. In addition, it will be presented a bibliography which consists of both his works and the works that is written on him.
