In this article, we first attempted to define the “literary interview” and establish its date of emergence in western literature. Then, we examined the evolution of this genre, which lacked a distant past in western literature, in Turkish literature. As a result of this study, we concluded that this form of literature differed from others such as the novel, history, theatre, criticism, essay and article all of which we adapted from the West after the Tanzimat. In contrast to the above mentioned genres, the “literary interview” emerged as the consequence of a personal curiosity. Upon this background, we tried to provide a general assessment of some selected works in this field. Moreover, we provided a selected bibliography extracted from different periodical publications.
