An Interview Abdullah Uçman on New Turkish Literature
This piece examines the contributions of Mehmet Kaplan to the New Turkish Literature. Within this framework, it provides a description and scope of the scientific field of New Turkish Literature followed by an explanation of the first proposal for such a chair to be inaugurated at the Faculty of Arts of Istanbul University and Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar's appointment to the position. The rest of the article deals with the highly disciplined studies of Mehmet Kaplan, his works, his liberation of this field as an academic discipline together with his PhD students and finally Kaplan's ethical attitude as a man of science.
