There are many treatises written about irada (free will), kadâ (fate) and kadar (predestination) in the Ottoman scholarly culture, which can, in fact, constitute a genre of their own due to their number, popularity and contents. Despite some studies on individual works, no study has been conducted yet on this literature as a whole. This article is an attempt at a literature survey based on existing library catalogs.
