Elfaz-ı Küfür (Blasphemy) in the Ottomans and Some Crucial Sources
As a concept signifying the border between faith and blasphemy, alfâz al-kufr [the statement of blasphemy] has maintained its currency in every age. While it was a part of fatwa books at first, separate treatises (risala) were composed to treat the issue in later periods. This study delves into and evaluates the important works of the Ottoman alfâz al-kufr literature, which remains mainly in manuscript form, in chronological order. The development of these works over time will be underlined and discussed in the process.
