The issue of foreign schools is one of the most important subjects in the history of Turkish education. That's why one can argue that its analysis from different aspects will contribute significantly to our history of education. The investigation of the history, the aims and the legal bases of these schools, which have survived into the current structure of the national education system, may help to attain some information about the future conditions of such schools as well as to better understand their fundamental transformation in our history of education. In this article, after providing brief information about the terms of foreign and minority schools, the research conducted in Turkey in this field before the 1980s are analyzed in a historical context. Finally, all books articles, theses, encyclopedic entries and presentations about foreign schools are listed and classified. This last part also involves the evaluations of some of these works.
