The Varlık Periodical is doubtlessly one of the most essential sources for research on the cultural life of the post-republican era. First published in 1933, the periodical is known to be the only one running until the present in a continuum. From this point of view, its important function along the cultural, political and social lines from the past to the present is even more highlighted. The popularity of this periodical, which has appealed to different generations, has varied according to the political and cultural conjunctures of the period, but it cannot be overlooked either. Thus in our article, we have stressed the importance of the periodical in our cultural life after an introduction of its contents and style by a scan of all issues from the first (July 15th, 1933) until July 2005.
