Politics and Official Ideology in Turkey
The principal aim of this article is to critically analyze and classify the literature on the Turkish politics and official ideology. These works are classified under five categories in terms of their methodologies and points of view: (i) Traditional- reactionary approach; (ii) Kemalist and liberal apologetic approaches; (iii) Historical-sociological approach; (iv) Analytical-critical approach; and (v) Neoliberal approach. It is argued that, since each has different and conflicting assumptions and methods concerning Turkish politics, their competency varies to a great extent.
