The Sociology Congresses in the Adventure of Humanities

This article aims to underline the main descriptive features of sociology congresses, both national and international, that were organized within the historical and intellectual scope of a hundred years history of Turkish sociology; to evaluate these activities within the developmental line of sociology in Turkey; to make evaluations about the composition of the congresses on the basis of universities, departments, and papers presented. This article is confined only to the sociology congresses, both national and international, organized in Turkey. The evaluations are based on the abstracts of the papers presented in these congresses, and on the published papers. In statistical analyses as far as the multi-authored papers are concerned, the number of presentation is considered to be one, and the number of participants is preserved. However, those academicians who have presented more than one paper in a congress are counted only once.
